About Kensa

Established in 1999, Kensa Engineering are the UK’s only manufacturer of a full range of ground source heat pumps. Kensa has considerable experience and expertise to assist you with your projects, with over 2000 successful installations. The company offers straightforward and honest guidance and a solution built in the UK, specifically designed for the UK market.

Kensa are MCS accredited which means Kensa can ensure their customers can gain access to any current funding and be assured of the quality of product and service.

Kensa's extensive product range provides heat pump systems for both domestic and commercial applications. The domestic compact range extends from 4kW to 24kW single phase, the largest single phase unit on the market, and up to 30kW in 3 phase, all units have integral ground and load side heating pumps insitu as standard. The heat pump system, provided as a kit is complete with prefabricated Slinky coils, cross valved manifolds and anti freeze therefore keeping installation costs and labour time to a minimum. All units come with an option for DHW and Smart Starts as standard.

For larger commercial projects the Kensa Plantroom Range covers requirements from 20kW-75kW, larger projects can be accommodated by using multiple units and optional reverse cycle cooling capability.

Installation

Installation of Kensa heat pumps is a relatively simple process, as Kensa heat pump systems are specifically designed to be installed without specialist training. Any competent contractor and heating engineer should be capable of completing a standard installation.

That said for installers new to heat pumps Kensa's can offer further product training. Held at the Truro manufacturing facility, a 20 acre former Cornish tin mine site. The Kensa training course offers a complete overview of Kensa's heat pump systems, with expert advice for heat pump applications and hands on installation sessions. The day costs only £100.00 per person - fully refundable against your first heat pump order. If you would like to find out more about our Installer Training Workshops, click here. Whilst you may benefit enormously from our training workshops, it is not essential that you take part in a workshop before installing a unit.

With regards to the ground arrays, for every kilowatt of heat pump output approximately 10 metres of slinky is required. The standard Kensa slinky lengths are 30 metre, 40 metre & 50 metre. If supplied with building & site drawings we can advise the number and length of slinkies required and also whether sufficient land is available.

The Slinky Ground arrays are normally buried in trenches 1.2 metres wide and 1.2m deep and need to be spaced 5 metres apart.

I recommend you watch the Kensa movie demonstrating how to install your slinky ground arrays - its only 2 minutes long but explains a lot! Click here to watch it now!

If land is not available then a drilled solution (ie Boreholes) will need to be considered. Kensa can help to put you in touch with specialist drilling contractors if that is a requirement of the project.

Advice and Technical Support

The company provides industry-leading and pre-sale and post-sale technical support. Kensa can advise on integration with UFH, radiators, domestic hot water and integration with other renewable technologies. Advice is also given on ground arrays, heating controls, running costs, budget pricing and system performance (COP).

The Technical support team are based in the UK and offer expert advice drawing on a wealth of experience in both domestic and commercial applications. A Kensa engineer will also facilitate the commissioning process, which for domestic applications is an interactive process, conducted over-the-phone with the installer on-site.

Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme:

In order to meet EU-imposed targets, the Government must encourage a dramatic upturn in the use of renewable technologies. To support this endeavour, the recently launched Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will offers a substantial and on-going financial reward for those homeowners installing technologies including Kensa ground source heat pumps, manufactured here in Cornwall. To find out how you can benefit from this scheme, please following this link: www.kensaengineering.com/RHI

Product Description

The  twin compressor range of Compact heat pumps are designed to provide space heating and domestic hot water production (optional extra) for well insulated buildings. Kensa heat pumps use low grade renewable energy from the ground and concentrates this to a higher temperature to provide heat into a buildings heating system.

Heat pumps are ideally suited to underfloor heating distribution systems mounted in screed as the large heat emitting surface area means a low flow temperature from the heat pump can be used increasing its efficiency.

Radiators can also be used within the heating distribution system however due to the higher flow temperatures required from the heat pump, its efficiency will be decreased and hence it is important to assess the viability of installing a unit against the alternative fuels available.
