dBoard
dBoard is an innovative acoustic building board used to create ceilings and wall linings to resist the passage of sound. When installed from a metal frame grid this system can dramatically upgrade existing floor structures.
The metal grid is suspended from the supporting timber floor joists using acoustic isolation hangers, and is specified to be capable of supporting at least 25kgm-2. Into the void between grid and the floor joists 100mm of dense mineral wool is fitted to reduce cavity resonance.
dBoard is then fixed to ‘top hat’ channels fitted to the underside of the grid at 400mm centres using 30mm x 3.9mm self tapping dry wall screws. The dBoard is then underdrawn with a layer of 12.5mm fire rated plasterboard prior to a decorative skim coat of plaster.
Where the dBoard panels adjoin a perimeter wall, a bead of acoustic sealant should be applied. It is essential that no gaps occur between the dBoard panels.
Cutting: Best cut using circular saw with dust extraction fitted. Can also be cut using a jigsaw or hand saw fixed with a heavy duty blade.
Storage: dBoard must be laid flat and kept dry. dBboard should only be stored on site if the building has been sealed and is completely dry.

Finishing & Plastering dBoard 12.5mm fire rated plasterboard must be fitted over the dBoard and finished according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Installing dBoard to a floor Bond to sub floor with suitable adhesive. Do not mechanically fix with screws or nails. Ensure dBoard is isolated from the wall around the perimeter of the room with flanking band. Seal joints between boards with Acoustic Sealant.
