The 2012 Housing Excellence Awards were held last week and if you recall we had been shortlisted for the Supplier of the Year Award. The other short-listed companies included Travis Perkins PLC and Wolseley UK Integrated Services.
It was a fantastic evening, with a range of recognised industry leading companies including Savills, Orbit Group, Travis Perkins, Wolseley, Keepmoat, Eon, and many others. There were over 750 professionals in attendance to the charity event.

At the moment CFL (Compact Flourescent Light) bulbs are the most common type of bulb used to meet Part L1A and CfSH 2009 ENE3 Internal lighting criteria. They are relatively efficient lights that use approximately half of the power of traditional bulbs. They also last much longer than traditional bulbs - approximately 8,000 hours on average compared with a typical 1-2,000 hours of a halogen bulb. They do not come without their problems however; switch on a CFL light and it takes up to 120 seconds to warm up and reach full brightness. Mercury is also used in the manufacturing process and so makes recycling more complicated too.
